Why You Should Be Creating Content in 2025.
Convincing reasons to start content creation.
The world we live in today is very different from the one we grew up in. This is the era of OTT platforms, social media news, online learning, and creator-led businesses. Look around, some of the biggest companies in the world exist only because of the internet.
The list goes on to Amazon, Google, Meta, Uber, and Netflix. And it’s not just tech giants. Even small businesses owe much of their growth to the internet.
If they’re leveraging the internet to grow, why aren’t you?
“Okay, the world has changed. But why should I be creating content?”
Here’s a simple reason:
Because all the attention is on the internet, you should also be a part of it.
When scrolling through your phone, watching videos, or reading a post, ask yourself, do you ever feel like creating something of your own? There may be a creative spark within you, but you have been ignoring it.
Still wondering if it applies to you? Let me break it down.
For artists and creators:
Instagram is your stage. Share your art. Inspire others. Not everything needs to be monetised. You never know who your work might reach or influence. If you write well, you can join any writing platform and share your views. And dont even think now that there is AI, what is the point of writing anyway. There is always space for real experience.
For business owners:
You already know what the internet can do if you have a product or service. People have built million-dollar businesses just by sharing value online. Marketing today is primarily digital. It’s an endless world you can explore, from strategies to platforms to tools. Don’t miss out.
For those who know something:
I’m not asking you to teach physics or economics (unless that’s your thing). I mean, we all know something that someone else doesn’t. You’re always ahead of someone who’s just starting. That’s your edge.
For everyone else:
Even if you don’t identify with the above, you still have stories, thoughts, and learnings. Start with what you’re comfortable sharing: a lesson, an opinion, a moment. I see this every day in my home. My daughter and husband naturally talk about their day. It’s human nature. Sometimes, just talking about your day can be healing.
Content can be therapy.
Creating content opens doors to community, connection, and support. We humans need humans. Give your support to others and take their support. You never know, your community may become your biggest strength one day.
How to start creating content?
1. Choose What to Say
Think about what you’re most interested in.
If you’ve worked in a field, share your experiences and insights.
If your passion lies elsewhere, start talking about what you’re learning.
If you run a business, your content is your brand voice.
2. Choose Where to Say It
Different platforms serve different purposes. Content doesn’t work the same everywhere.
Pick the one that suits your message and audience.
Here are eight platforms to explore:
Instagram
LinkedIn
Medium
Substack
YouTube
Twitter
Snapchat
TikTok
Disclaimer: Before you start, know why you’re doing this. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison. Stay grounded. Stay focused. Ignore the judgment.
No one here is permanent.
The Honest Truth
I get it, it’s not easy to start. The internet is loud. There’s too much content already available. Sometimes, it feels like there’s no room for you. But there is. Keep learning. Keep experimenting. Keep showing up.
